We celebrated the opening of the new Sacred Hearts Nursery School during the Easter season. How good the Lord is! He is truly risen indeed! What a beautiful day!

We were honored to be joined by other Little Workers from around the nation and world (especially Sisters Gesuina (Delegate of Mother Superior General for the Little Workers of the Sacred Hearts in the United States), Sr. Daria, Sr. Enrica, and Sr. Jasey from the Little Workers in Stamford, CT as well as all the Little Workers from Washington DC), our neighbors and benefactors, and representatives from the community. Our Riverdale Park Mayor, Vernon Archer, was present along with Town Councilman Alan Thompson, Town Councilman David Lingua, Riverdale Park Police Chief Dave Morris, County Councilwoman Danielle Glaros, and Ryan Middleton on behalf of U.S. Senator Ben Cardin. A special thanks to all who helped make this day possible. Most importantly we were joined by the children of our school and their families.

Sr. Ada cut the ribbon after a blessing by Fr. John Dillon of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. The children sang beautifully (even in Italian). All in attendance toured the school for a peak inside and gathered for a community celebration with the children. Within one week we have been able to welcome 10 more children to our school for a total of 30 children. We will be posting the new images and updates of the school shortly in the other pages of this blog. Please check back soon - it is a sight to behold. It is such a blessing for the children.

Please remember the Little Workers of the Sacred Hearts vital work of service to the children of our community rely on donations of all sorts in order to make their vital work possible. Our work is not finished yet and continues everyday.

The Sisters especially wish to thank Michael Herman, our zoning attorney for this immense and complicated project, John Petro and Kathleen Litchefield from Petro Design Build (the architects and builders of our new school) whose team included Kent Abraham (Architect), Ed Scott (Project Manager) and Leonard Ballard  (Carpenter), and Jack Thompson. Thank you to our neighbors and all the numerous contractors and workers from our electricians, HVAC experts, plumbers, carpenters, and even playground experts. It was an immense endeavor that required perseverance and could not have been completed without all of your contributions. In addition, our work would not have been possible without the assistance of those who assisted in the fundraising efforts of our project, especially Barbara and Paul Girolami and Fr. Dan Leary, Pastor of St. Andrews. Please continue to support our apostolate as the sisters had to finance this project. Our continued success relies on the generosity of ordinary people like you. Thank you all and God Bless!
